We get it. The big picture matters.

Teaching is more than just a job. It’s important to know that your school district not only shares your beliefs, but also lifts up teaching for what it is—a career spent unlocking the potential of the next generation.

Check out what we’re working on.

Working Toward Equity in Our Neighborhood Schools

Our Opportunity Schools program is a powerful demonstration of our sharp focus on equity for every neighborhood school. We are recruiting and developing teacher talent for schools that serve predominantly students of color on Chicago’s South and West Sides. In our Opportunity Schools, you’ll find inspiring and motivated educators who are given additional support, including an experienced mentor teacher and instructional coaches, to ensure their success.

Teacher Leaders Setting the Agenda

Empowered Schools are a cohort of Opportunity Schools where CPS teachers are leading like never before. Here, teacher leaders work hand-in-hand with their school leaders to drive student achievement and create a working environment aimed at growing and fulfilling our teachers’ talent in the building.

The Bottom Line

Teach Chicago is an initiative of Chicago Public Schools to attract and retain highly qualified, diverse teachers for every classroom in the city. We know that a quality teacher can have a tremendous impact on our student’s success in the classroom. That’s why we’re particularly focused on providing extra support to hardest-to-staff schools and high-need subject areas, such as special education and bilingual teaching, to promote equity across the district. This is the work that drives us.

Key supporters of Teach Chicago include the Crown Family Philanthropies and the Joyce Foundation. Additional support provided by the US Department of Education.
